Requirements
- Job Requirements: Academic and Professional Qualifications:
- For appointment to the position of Resident Magistrate, an applicant must be in possession of the following minimum qualifications: -
- i. A Law Degree from any recognized University;
- ii. A Diploma from the Kenya School of Law or an exemption by the Council of Legal Education;
- iii. Admission to the Roll of Advocates;
- iv. Proficiency in computer applications;
- v. Must not have any pending complaints with the Advocates Complaints Commission, the Disciplinary Committee or adverse report from current and previous employer(s);
- vi. Must possess the qualifications set out in Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
- Experience:
- Three (3) years post admission experience either in private practice or other employment and a current practicing certificate.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Specific duties will include: -
- i. Presiding as a Resident Magistrate in any court station in Kenya with jurisdiction as stipulated in various statutes;
- ii. Performing Deputy Registrars duties as stipulated in various statues;
- iii. Overseeing the operations of the court(s) and management of staff under his
-her charge; and
- iv. Carrying out a wide range of administrative functions for those heading stations.
- v. Any other duties assigned from time to time.

- (e) Professional and Academic certificates, academic transcripts and Testimonials:
- (f) Five (5) samples of any professional writings, including but not limited to judgments, advocacy submissions in courts, scholarly writings or any legal publications that the applicant has authored.
- Appointed candidates will be required to submit valid copies of clearance certificates from the following bodies:
- • Kenya Revenue Authority
- • Higher Education Loans Board
- • Law Society of Kenya
- • Directorate of Criminal Investigation
- • Advocates Complaints Commission
- • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and
- • A recognized Credit Reference Bureau
- • The application must reach the Commission NOT LATER THAN 5TH MAY, 2023 AT 5.00PM.
